I swear... one of these days I am going to beat Alex with his math book.
I have tried looking for a better fit in math books. I have tried using no curriculum at all. I have tried setting a time limit and everything not done is homework (to be done before he does anything else!)
The outcome is ALWAYS the same. After a chorus of "I don't understand!" "I can't do it!" I hate this!" and "Why do I have to do math?" comes the HOURS of just staring at the page. Hours. I mean, the child just doesn't care. He would rather sit there staring at a page of numbers for hours than just spend the 20 minutes it would take to answer the problems.
The timer just went off. He has had 45 minutes to do a page of review. He has done two problems.
I just don't know what to do anymore.

What type of math do you use? We use Saxon and it works wonders.
